Ms Kay Marie

Hi Everyone! Hope this finds you all having a great week. Last night I was catching up with my friend Katie. (the same Katie I mentioned in my loungewear blog) She asked me for some help with makeup. As you know, makeup is not my most favorite of girlie things. However, when a friend asks for help, I’m always there! So ladies, here are some of my basic suggestions to get started.

Practice Makes Perfect

Now when I was first getting interested in makeup, I could practice on my girlfriends. I understand that much like my friend Katie, this is probably not an option for you to do. Little suggestion ~ print a face template from the internet. Think of it as a coloring page. This  will give you a chance see how colors look together and play with some techniques. (not to mention managing that little applicator) It won’t be the same as applying  to your face, but it will give you some familiarity when you do. Don’t go wasting your best sissy makeup on this. Stop by a discount or drug store and pickup a cheap face pallet. There are small inexpensive complete face sets. These sets typically have a couple of different eye shadows, blushes, even liners and lip colors.

Prepping

Ok, you are ready to start practicing on that pretty face of yours. Again, I suggest that you start with inexpensive products. Trust me you wouldn’t be the first girl to fall in love with a lipstick, blush, or eyeshadow only to find it looks terrible on you. We’ve all done – and have a drawer full of our mistakes to prove it – lol. Before you even start with the eyeshadow you need to prep. I’ve said it before I will say it again ~ exfoliate!! Get ride of all that dead dry skin. (trust me ~ it’s there) My personal “go to” exfoliant is a brown sugar scrub. I even add honey to it especially during this time of year when my skin can get a little dry with the cold temps and furnace running nonstop. Afterwards, make sure you moisturize. (I recommend a tinted moisturizer or BB cream) You want a smooth canvas to start. This goes for your lips as well. Nothing looks worse than lipstick on dry cracked lips!  Even if you are a closet sissy and will never leave your house in makeup, everyone looks better with healthy skin.

Getting Started

So, now you are ready to start looking more feminine! Start slow and take your time. It can tricky. Eyes can get twitchy or start to water. Hands can even be a little shaky. You’ll get better, I promise. Start with a basic look. A little liner, light blush, sheer lips. Once you are confident in your skills  (and handling that applicator), you can try new looks. Before you know it, you’ll have a basic face, a day face, evening out full face and I’m sure you won’t be able to resist trying a slutty look.

Hope these tips help get you started. One last thing ~ have some patience & have fun! Just because something looks great on a model in a magazine or is the latest trend doesn’t mean it is going to work on you. That’s ok!! You’ll find what does and if you need some help ~ we are definitely here for you.

Hugs,

Ms Kay Marie
