Hi Everyone! Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a good start. I had a very busy weekend and it looks as though the week is going to be more of the same! I love it. Last week I got a message about my favorite thing ~ bras! It was asking what a “demi” cup bra was and if it was different than a “regular” bra. It got me thinking. With all the styles out there and their various names it can get kind of confusing. So I thought I would take a moment to give you a crash course in Bras 101.
Bra Sizing
Although this might seem pretty simple it is usually the first mistake that everyone makes. I read somewhere that most women do not wear the proper bra size. I am sure that goes for my girlie friends as well. I highly recommend a professional bra fitting. If you can’t or won’t go in for one, I understand, and you can do it at home yourself. (You will need a tape measure -the soft kind not the kind you use to measure a deck) If you can, get a friend to actually take the measurements. You will need to take a couple of measurements. First is around your band – just below your breast. If you are uncertain as to where, look at a chart or even a picture of a bra worn to visualize it. The second measurement is around the fullest part of your breast. The difference in these two measurements is your cup size. Each inch is a represents a cup size. (1 inch = A, 2 inches = B, etc.)
Bra Styles
Ok – there are a lot of styles out there and it seems new styles are named each season. To answer my friend’s question, there is no such thing as a regular bra. We each have our own “go to” or personal favorite (mine is a demi) but there really isn’t a standard. Here are some basics. As I have mentioned, mine is a demi cup. There is a full coverage, push up and balconet. These refer to the cup cut/style. You can have these styles with an underwire, lined or unlined and even various padding. A multiway or strapless bra can come in a variety of styles. Each may fit differently or not even well at all. Again, a little trial and error. If the style you love doesn’t fit right, don’t force it. Nothing looks worse than an ill-fitting bra. Try a different cup style with the same straps or fabric of the one that you like. You may find that you like it even more! And if you are still having trouble fitting your girlie figure, I always suggest, try a bralette. The sizing is more forgiving, they have have less restrictive cup fitting and yet, you can still get all the fabrics and colors that you so love.
You see, there’s no one that’s right. You will find the style that you like ~ that fits right. And I am sure you will be just as sexy as can be!
Until next time!
Hugs,
Ms Kay Marie

Ms. Kay Marie I would like to offer my services since you said it would be good to have a friend to help with your cup size. I guess being a part owner of a lingerie internet store certainly helped with me in buying the right bra. I cannot wait till you have more posts about transgender.
With the Sissy Pageant happening this month, this post on bra fittings, shows perfect timing, Miss Kay Marie. I remember my 1st bra fitting. It was a right of passage in my family, and something I continue to do, whenever I need a new foundation piece.
Twice a year at the store I shop for my unmentionables – has a weeklong event, where manufactures send their Reps to do fittings. Best of all … there’s cake and punch. Its grand to be a girl!
Sal ~ I am so looking forward to meeting you! We will have you all pretty. Email or give me a call and we will get started!
Rikki ~ I hope you will share any lingerie buying tips you might have!
Ms Vivian ~ You are so right, it is grand to be a girl!!! I love when the boutiques have their event weeks. It’s so much fun (and usually quite expensive for me – wink)
